Hortense - Knitting with Chopsticks

Basic Blanket Math: How Many Stitches? How Much Yarn?

My mom taught me to knit, one summer when I was 10 bored on the beach. From there my love (some would say obsession) of yarn was born and I never stopped stitching.

I taught myself to crochet a few years ago thanks to blogs like mine and fell in love all over again and launched my blog Knitting with Chopsticks where I now share my easy knitting & crochet patterns for home, women and kiddos.

My goal is to break down knitting and crochet so they become simple enough for you to create exactly what you want, the way you want it through my blog, courses and ebooks and events like the Crochet Blanket Summit.

We celebrate a handmade lifestyle where creativity and self-expression are attainable for anyone with a hook and a few balls of yarn.

I live in Colorado with my three young kiddos who love to unravel yarn and my patient husband, who doesn’t mind living in an ever-growing yarn web.

Agat Rottman - Made by Gootie

How To Crochet Different Stitch From Corner To Corner

My name is Agat (it’s the Hebrew word for Agate, a precious stone). I named my business after my nickname, which my family and friends are still calling me by. I live in Haifa, a city in Israel near the Mediterranean Sea with my husband and our 3.5 year old daughter.

I started knitting at the age of 12, and learned to crochet when I was 25.

I love designing modern crochet patterns and my favorite technique is corner to corner with different crochet stitches. I love how this method spares me the stress of starting with a long chain and counting stitches! I use it whenever I can with different crochet items (basically anything that can be made from a square or a rectangle!).

Colorwork For Tunisian Crochet Blankets

Sarah is the yarn lover and crochet designer behind Ned & Mimi. Her mom taught her how to crochet as a child, but she did not actually finish a project until she crocheted a blanket for her first baby over 9 years ago!

In a previous career, Sarah worked in technology; these days, designing crochet patterns provides her with the perfect opportunity to combine her logical “mathsy” side with her creative, crafty side.

Crochet Blankets For Charity

Crochet has been my passion since I was 4 years old. From making my first simple blanket to creating patterns, adorable stuffed animals, clothing and housewares, I have spent the last 30 years making beautiful handmade items for family and friends as well as crochet items to sell at boutiques, festivals, farmers markets, craft shows and through an Etsy shop. Since earning a Bachelors degree in education, I have discovered I have a unique ability to inspire others to learn the craft of crochet. I can teach both newcomers and advanced crocheters alike how to crochet in an easy and fun way.

The business I have created now allows me to teach others how to make beautiful, fun, and useful items for themselves, their homes, their loved ones, or to sell.

Ashlee - Ashlee Brotzell Designs

Interlocking Crochet: Making it Make Sense

Ashlee Brotzell accidentally became a crochet designer while searching for some me-time in motherhood. The excitement of combining her art, crochet, and technical skills into a business that can support her family continues to be a dream-come-true.

As a busy, homeschooling mom in rural Saskatchewan, Canada it’s important to find that balance between making something that’s worth the effort and not getting overwhelmed with the tricky details. Ashlee’s favorite colorwork techniques are interlocking crochet and overlay mosaic crochet because they don’t involve complicated crochet stitches, but they produce stunning results!

Since self-publishing her first pattern in April 2020 she’s been in Crochet Now magazine twice and has created over 300 colorwork patterns! Ashlee wants to kindly support your ability to create something beautiful using her well-written patterns (with charts), along with photo and video tutorials.

How To Combine Stitches To Make Your Own Blanket

Elizabeth “Biz” Mareno, the crochet designer behind Bizzy Crochet and Design, shares unique crochet patterns inspired by her love for Christmas, nature, babies, and pop culture. After moving from Wisconsin to Florida's Emerald Coast in 2011, she found her niche in creating sampler Christmas-themed blankets. Married with two grown children and an elderly pup, Biz is also heavily involved in her church. Tasha Margette Reynolds - Stardust Gold Crochet

Border Bliss: Elevate Your Blanket Edges With Style

I started my blog in 2017 while caring for my elderly father and attending graduate school. During this time, I battled cancer, supported my grandson born with Spina Bifida, and faced a "mystery illness." It was a long journey, but I overcame all the obstacles and now cherish every day.

Crocheting has transformed my life for the better! I love learning all the techniques and sharing what I learn with you. When I’m not crocheting, you’ll find me out in nature, skating, adventuring with my grandson, cooking, or playfully solving the mysteries of the universe.
