MEET YOUR HOST
Hey! I'm Hortense
My mom taught me to knit, one summer when I was bored on the beach at age 10. From there my love (some would say obsession) of yarn was born and I never stopped stitching.
A few years ago I started to dig into the online world of yarn and discovered so many techniques, constructions and concepts I had never heard about before.
Slowly I started to move away from following patterns until 2018 when I finally launched my blog Knitting with Chopsticks where I share my easy knitting & crochet patterns.
My goal is to break down knitting and crochet so they become simple enough for you to create exactly what you want, the way you want it through my patterns, blog, ebooks, courses, the Stitching Squad and events like this one.
And blankets are the perfect place to start!
Grab your ticket and join me for a crochet-alomg like no other where you'll discover new techniques and craft this beautiful blanket alongside crocheters around the world.
YOU'RE READY TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF TO MOVE PAST BASIC STITCHES IN THIS FREE 7-WEEK CROCHET-ALONG
It's time to stop second guessing yourself, spending hours crocheting blindly or sticking to the same old crochet blanket pattern you know. You have what it takes to move past the basic single crochet and double crochet stitch and craft this beautiful sampler blanket alongside crocheters around the world.
YOU'VE GOT QUESTIONS? I'VE GOT YOU COVERED
We kick off on Wednesday January 15 and new sections will be released every Wednesday by 8 am ET with the border section releasing on Wednesday February 26.
You’ll also be able to join our Facebook group as soon as you register, so you can join in on the fun right away!
No worries! You're welcome to join us for the entire event, jump in late and catch up or just work a few sections while the live event is running.
The patterns are not going anywhere. After release they will remain available on the blog (with their video and other resources).
The crochet-along schedule is designed to keep us all moving through the blanket together so I can best assist you section by section and to make sure you actually finish your blanket but you won't be "punished" if you don't finish it with us!
We're here to have fun first and foremost!
Although this is a blanket crochet-along you can easily adapt each section to make smaller items like scarves or dishcloths and use the crochet-along as a learning opportunity!
The blanket is designed in Worsted weight (4) Rosarios Amor-Perfeito (50% wool, 50% acrylic, 100g/3.5oz, 120m/131yd) and 6 mm / US J-10 crochet hook.
Once you signup for your free ticket you will get more detailed information about the materials needed and advice to pick your colors.

The Tidal Textures Throw comes in 2 sizes:
The Tidal Textures Throw was designed with adventurous beginners in mind, whether you've been crocheting here and there for years or you just picked up hook for the first time a few weeks ago, you'll learn A TON during the crochet-along.
As long as you know how to chain and single crochet or double crochet I'd love to have you join us!
So have many others!
You'll probably already know a lot of the techniques shared during the crochet-along but with so many crocheters sharing their tips and tricks I would be very surprised you don't learn anything new. And you've probably not crocheted all the blanket stitches and combinations of the blanket.
Plus, even if you're such an expert that you're not learning anything new, you will still have crocheted a gorgeous sea-inspired throw.
Yes! All the patterns will be accessible from the website while the community is held on Facebook. You will not be able to connect with other crocheters as much without Facebook, but it's definitely not a requirement to participate.
If you still have questions, I encourage you to go ahead and register. Your questions will likely be answered during the event or in the Facebook group, which you'll be able to join right away after grabbing your free ticket.
However, if you need to ask me a question before registering, just send me an email at hortense@knittingwithchopsticks.com.
